The City Council has issued a municipal ban informing about the prohibition of making bonfires and launching rockets, due to the risk of forest fires.

The text of the ban is as follows:

"I, Meritxell Budó Pla, Mayor of the City Council of La Garriga, address this ban to all citizens to remind them that, although the risk of fire is currently moderate, weather forecasts indicate that this summer will be dry and hot, creating an ideal scenario for forest fires.

Given that our entire municipal area is less than 500 meters from forest areas, the vulnerability of our environment is high. A fire in this area generates a serious environmental impact, difficult to recover from, which can take decades to restore.

We recall that, according to data from the Department of the Interior, 9 out of 10 fires are caused by people, which underlines the importance of collective responsibility in preventing them.

For this reason, and following the advice and restrictions of the Department of the Interior and Public Security, it is essential to establish the following measures to guarantee the safety of people and protect our environment natural:

  • It is forbidden to make bonfires anywhere in the municipality.
  • The launch of rockets, flying firecrackers, category III fountains and hot air balloons with fire is prohibited.

This prohibition will be in force until September 15, 2026, coinciding with the end of the high fire risk period, a period established by the Department of the Interior, adding that this period may vary depending on the risk conditions.

The City Council calls for the commitment of all citizens and asks that the recommendations of the Department of the Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya be followed at all times, as well as the indications of the Local Police and Civil Protection.

With everyone's collaboration, we can enjoy a peaceful, safe and respectful summer with our environment.

Have a good evening and a good summer."
