In Naples, shortly after the end of the war, the Saporito brothers survive with difficulty, while they see how their old family business of renting equipment for popular celebrations collapses beyond repair. On the other hand, their neighbors, the Cimmaruta, manage to live in certain comfort thanks to unclear activities that guarantee their subsistence. Everything changes when an unexpected accusation of murder shakes the fragile coexistence of the staircase triggering a spiral of suspicions, deceptions and half-truths that will test the bonds between the inhabitants of the building.
Work written in the middle of the post-war period (1948) by the great Italian playwright Eduardo De Filippo.
