By David Mamet and directed by Josep Maria Mestres
A Boston Marriage is a euphemism used in the United States in the 19th century to refer to a couple of women who lived together without male support. The expression itself could have a literary origin, referring to the novel The Bostonians (1886) by Henry James.
In 1989, playwright David Mamet wrote one of his most famous plays based on this point of departure. A Boston Marriage is a comedy that intelligently studies the problems of power and class, love and obsession. With dialogues close to the style of Oscar Wilde, Mamet spins a web of irony and introduces us to the adventures and misadventures of his characters, hidden behind the veil of appearances of Victorian society.
