In Japan there is a centuries-old art called Kintsugi. When a piece of ceramic breaks, it is repaired with resin and gold dust. Thus, it becomes a unique object, endowed with a new aesthetic and a new value. Thanks to this process of repair and transformation, scarsare transmuted into beauty.
Human beings act in the opposite way: very often, in order not to suffer, we avoid showing our scars by hiding behind a armor. This show, as Kintsukuroi masters know, invites us to embrace our suffering and our mistakes in order to accept and beautify them.
‘Open Armor’ is a reflection on resilience and willpower. A push to look inside ourselves and define our emotional and physical scars in order to continue growing and evolving.
