The new awards promoted by SomSardana will have their Grand Final at the Teatre de la Garriga - El Patronat.

The Teatre de la Garriga - El Patronat will host the Grand Final of the Preludi Awards, on May 30th.

The awards are the new project of SomSardana that aims to honor contemporary musical creation of sardanas.

The Preludi Awards were created to give value and projection to contemporary sardana, as living, diverse and fully current music within Catalan culture. The awards combine artistic quality, audience participation and media dissemination through a modern, audiovisual and open format.

They are structured in three categories: the Young Musical category, the Musical category and the Audience category, which allow us to recognize the diversity of voices, styles and perspectives of current sardana.

The awards have a jury formed by Antoni Ros-Marbà, Francesc Cassú and Jordi and Xavier Pagès-Corella, three recognized experts in the Catalan musical and cultural world.

In addition, the awards are complemented by the podcast El Tamborí, presented by Arnau Tordera, where you can listen to the best sardanas of 2025, presented at the awards. The expert jury listens, analyzes and evaluates the sardanas selected from the three categories and reveals the sardanas that will reach the Grand Final.

In the case of the Audience category, the jury chooses the finalist sardanas that will be presented at the galas of the Casino de l'Aliança del Poblenou (18, 20 and 25 May), in which the public (in person or online) will decide the finalist sardanas.

The Grand Final of the Preludi Awards

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Grand Final will take place at the Teatre de la Garriga - El Patronat. The 9 finalist sardanas will be performed at the event.

The Grand Final will not be an isolated event, but will be introduced in the previous acts of the Corpus Christi Festival with a dance by the Montgrins cobla, at 6 p.m. in Plaça Can Dachs, organized by the Agrupació Sardanista La Garriga, prior to the Grand Final. This dance will coincide with the giants' meeting and the end of the parade.

For the Councilor for Culture, Xavier Gotanegra, the Preludi Awards demonstrate "that the sardana and popular culture are very much alive and current" and "here in La Garriga, they are a sample of who we are as a people".

The president of Som Sardana, Xavier Tresserras, explained that the awards are a renewal of the previous competition "La sardana de l'any", and highlighted the participation of the public (in person and offline) to choose the audience prize.

Víctor Rodríguez, from the Agrupació Sardanista La Garriga, highlighted that "La Garriga will be the capital of sardana for a day with a pioneering and quality initiative that wants to put the sardana at the center".

The mayor, Meritxell Budó, who closed the event, stated that "hosting this grand finale honors us" and "puts us on the map of Catalonia. It is important because our municipality has always been historically linked to the sardana, even at the level of composers, both in the past and in the present".
