This year, among the activities highlighted in the program commemorating the bombing of La Garriga, there is the screening of a documentary and two theatrical works.This 2025, the 86th anniversary of the bombing of La Garriga on January 29, 1939 is commemorated. And once again, the departments of Tourism and Heritage have organized various events and activities to remember the anniversary.
This year, the performing and audiovisual arts will have a leading role. And one of the highlighted activities will be the film forum of the documentary 508 dies. Cristina Zalba: the woman in the anti-fascist struggle, a work by Marc Planagumà that tells the story of Cristina Zalba during the year and a half that she took care of the maquis Antoni Figueras, between January 1945 and June 1946.
The documentary, the result of two years of research and which includes the testimony of the families of the two protagonists, looks at the role that women played
during Franco's regime, especially in the framework of the anti-fascist struggle of the maquis. It will be on January 31, in the evening, at the Alhambra Cinema.
A few days before, on January 26, the Visitor Center has scheduled the guided itinerary "The bombing of La Garriga", which will visit some of the points of the municipality affected by the bombing, delving into the causes and effects of the attack.
The Visitor Center has also scheduled a guided tour of the station's shelter on February 9th, and theatrical visits to the same shelter on the 23rd. In all cases, prior reservations are required.
In addition, on Friday, February 21st, at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the Municipal School of Music, the Tambors per la Pau percussion circle will take place, open to everyone.
The commemoration, on stage
Theatre will also be a protagonist in the commemoration, with two works: the first is Olvido Flores by Estefanía de Paz Asín, which brings us closer to the testimonies of the people who lived through the events that took place in Lodosa (Navarra) in July 1936, when a circus company disappeared without a trace. You can see it on February 8th at Can Luna.
The second, which will be performed on February 9 at the Teatre de la Garriga, El Patronat, is La Mestra, by Anita Maravillas, the story of a brave teacher and her class, and how the war forces them to leave their school behind in the forest.
Institutional event
On Sunday, February 2, at 12 noon, at the mass grave of the Doma cemetery, the institutional event in memory of the victims of the bombing of La Garriga will take place. The presentation will be given by historian Quim Fornés and there will be a musical performance.
