When her husband dies, Bernarda Alba forces her five unmarried daughters (four, in our show) to mourn for eight years in a row. In the midst of an oppressive, repressive and suffocating atmosphere, Adela (the youngest of all) learns that Angustias, the older sister, will marry Pepe el Romano, with whom Adela maintains a secret relationship. La Poncia, the servant and trusted wife of Bernarda Alba, discovers the relationship between Adela and Pepe el Romano and fears that this could increase the family tension within the house. Finally, Adela will rebel against her mother's strict rules, with unpredictable consequences.
