Illa Raspall, the jewel of Garriguen modernism
Illa Raspall is the most important modernist complex in the Garriga and is unique in all of Catalonia. It is protected as a Cultural Property of National Interest.
It is an island of four houses - the Barbey house, the Torre Iris, the Bombonera and the Barraquer house - located at the beginning of the Passeig and built by Manel J. Raspall between 1910 and 1913. The Raspall Island shows us the artistic and monumental importance of the work of the architect Manel J. Raspall and explains the intense changes that the Garriga underwent 100 years ago.
In Plaça del Silenci you will find an interpretation station about the Island and the phenomenon of bourgeois summering. And, next to the Barbey house, you will find another one that talks about the decorative details of this Raspall masterpiece. Take a walk around or take part in one of the guided tours that take place there. You will discover a whole world of details and hidden stories.
